    Savage 10BA .308 Win. vs armalite ar 31 .308

    Morning All;

    This is my first post here.......

    I will be going to sniper's school with-in a few months. I was looking at a duty rifle in .308 that had a good rep. (And yes you can take the .308 out to 1200 yards, so I don't want a .338, pls keep the topic on these weapon systems unless you have another .308 that is better in your eyes)
    I have been told that AI is a good production gun....but for the price of that I can get one of these two and customize to my liking....
    I have also looked at the Nemesis Arms mini windrunner, and not sure if I should include that as a possible choice.

    Anyways,
    I was wondering if anyone here has had some trigger time with these 2 weapons : Savage 10BA .308 Win. ~or~ Armalite ar 31 .308 ?

    Which weapon is the most accurate out of the box?
    Which one has the most reliable set-up?

    I am leaning to Armalite at the moment for only one reason.....it can take mags up to 25 count.....

    Anyways; I'd be very interested in anyone's input that can help ........

    Thanks;
    Shane

    Why not do what they suggested on Sniper's Hide and buy a custom rifle for that price?

      +1 and the 25 round deal is only good if you're non Cali.

        That option is not off the table.....

        However; they did not answer my question, AND seeing that you know me from The Hide and still haven't answered my question, is why I came here....

        And my question still stands......which of the two are the more accurate.

        If I go custom , I'll let you know.
        But at this time , I am looking at these two models and would like input from actual users.

        Thanks
        SM

          I know this is a Cali site. However I'm in Texas so the 25 round is an awesome choice for me

                This thread tells me SO much about the OP.
                He is picking guns based on looks as he has listed 3 really cool looking guns, but not really practical ones.
                Accuracy is not the first concern on a duty rifle, reliability is.

                      Amazing how in 2 days the OP went from " taking some classes here in a few months for long range shooting with a .308" to "going to sniper's school with-in a few months".

                          Well, you can't look lame in sniper school. It's like elementary school where the cool kids had the trapper keeper and the poor kids had the regular binder.

                              I don't think that he realizes that they ISSUE you a rifle in sniper school and that you can ONLY use your issued rifle.
                              He should be more concerned with wearing Crye Precision pants.
