I have a DNZ on my T3 Hunter (22-250). If I recall right its a high mount and my 50mm scope just barely fits.

Check, thanks. Just got my RMA number; I'll do some measuring to see if my 42mm will fit with a medium Game Reaper or not.

I picked up my T3 today and I am more than impressed. I'm gonna get a Hunter Fluted in 6.5 Swede next year when they are imported again. The bolt is soooo silky smooth.

I added an aftermarket bolt handle on mine (actually both my T3 (.223) and Sporter (.308)). But it's really just a vanity part. I would suggest a bolt on variable comb height add-on. There's a company that makes one for the Tikka T3 stock. You have to drill two holes in the stock for the locking screws but it is a solid piece. I don't mind drilling in the plastic stock, but would never do it in the wooden Hunter stock. And the Sporter comes with a high adjustable comb piece. I just bought one for the T3 and have to install it. Let me know if you need the name.

A 42 mm Nikon will fit in a DNZ low mount.

I thought about a bolt handle; I figured they aren't going anywhere and if I want one later its an easy add-on. I have read that some people love adding variable combs; but since I have the Hunter that's not something I want to do to the stock. I'll buy another stock (or rifle...) if I decide I really want one.

Good to know; thanks. I ordered a medium after doing some measuring and it seemed like it should mount no problem. I am hoping that I prefer the med over the low; I'll find out when the new mount arrives I guess.

Took the rifle out for a quick shooting session this week. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of felt recoil; I could shoot that rifle for awhile before I'd start to feel sore in the shoulder. I didn't have my full gear so I was stuck zeroing the scope simply in the prone position. I got my hunting rounds in about an 1 1/2" group at 100yds. Nothing to brag about, I know; but that will at least work to get me some bacon if I don't get to fine-tune my zero properly before a chance to go hunting comes up.

So far I'm quite happy with the rifle. All told; I'm about $1500 into the setup (including extra magazines but no ammo). I can't wait to get a little more time to fully dial in my scope and then (literally) bring home the bacon.

Here it is with the three round mag. The scope looks like it was set too far back; but every time I checked the eye relief prior to tightening the rings down it wound up right about there. Worked good enough at the range; I just need to get some more time behind the trigger now (only fired about ten shots with it..).

Just a little update with a question: I took the Tikka out to the range last week and notice that one of my factory five round magazines would only load four rounds. Anyone else have that problem? I couldn't find any obvious obstructions in the magazine (I didn't tear it down though) and my other magazines loaded the same five rounds just fine.

Also, finishing my zero on my scope with a sandbag gave me three to five round groups (okay, okay, I was just shooting it for some fun too...) at .75" or less with that ZQ1 stuff and less than .5" with my hunting rounds. I'm sure the rifle would have shot even tighter with a better operator or one of those Lead Sled setups..

I have a Tikka lite in 300wsm and had it braked. Dig mistake- with a thin barrel as it removes a good amount of the crown and definitely effects accuracy. I plan on having it cut off and getting a target crown. I have EGW base, Burris XTR rings and Trijicon Accupoint 3.5-10x56 on that rifle. I wish you the best of luck with your project!

I can attest to that tikka, because it is mine. So far i've shot 500 rounds of 300 win mag through it and it holds 1/2 MOA.
I did change the recoil lug to a steel lug in my manners stock. I'm also running the CDI bottom metal.
The brake makes it shoot lighter than a 308 un-braked. I can see my hits at 600 yards easily at Angeles without loosing the sight picture.

Shameless plug for Randall's work. Very reasonable prices and top quality craftsmanship.
