    scope base help

    hey guys
bought an EGW mount and it does not fit. I have a Remington 721 and it says that it fits the 721. Either the front 2 holes line up or the back 2 holes line up but both front and back wont line up together.

Any suggestions besides the obvious return?

Evolution Gun Works riflescope mounts, rings and bases are manufactured to the highest standards in the industry by gunsmithing experts who know gun design ...
If the barrel is drilled correct, the rail sounds like an easy return.

Whats the stamp on the rail say? You may have gotten a rail for a different model.

Just to make sure, the 721 is a long action and the 722 is a short action. Did you perhaps order a normal short action 700 base? Ive received correct label incorrect part a number of times. Maybe the actual part you received is not the correct one. EGW parts are usually very well machined.

I ordered the long action and the stamp on the rail says 700 LA. Im not sure what is off. I guess the holes in my barrel could be off.

Its hard to see the picture on my phone, but it looks like maybe the problem is that the threaded hole is off laterally. Is it off to the side or are the holes spaced too far apart length wise?

email EGW. I have contacted them in the past and got quick replies.

Being off 1/2 of a hole, I would suspect the base, provided your receiver has not been "fixed" in the past 60 years.
Call EGW, they are a good company and will make it right if it is their screw up.
Can you measure (accurately) the hole spacing on your 721? Might be good to have that on hand when you talk to them.

In this picture the back 2 screws are in and the front 2 holes do not match up. the holes in the barrel are off length wise and need to be moved up about half a diameter or so.

have you tried turning it around the other way? I am new and I am sure the OP is more experienced than I as the rest of you. but being a noob, I would see if I have the wrong way and see if the holes line up if you turn it around.

He has it on correctly. The overhang in the picture goes on the barrel end of the receiver. Either the base is out of spec or the receiver is. Sucks but thats the way of the road.
