    practical tactical vest rig?

I often shoot in national forest/blm type places and am wondering if anyone can recommend a good, inexpensive vest that has built in mag pouches (prefer one that works with full size ak mags, so it will work with .223 as well even if I need to stuff a sock in the bottom of the pouches.

Eventually I'll build up a Molle plate carrier, but in the interim I'm just looking for something cheap to carry everything. Would be good if it had as many pockets as possible, and wouldn't mind a nylon cross draw pistol holster also.

A lot of the spots I shoot are a little walk from the car so it would be nice to have 240 rfile rounds and a few pistol mags attached to me so I don't have to lug so many bags and cases along.

It's a pain to leave mags in one spot or try to stuff em in cargo pants pockets.

I've seen a few for around $50 with mixed reviews. I know I could custom build one but when you have to order all the molle stuff individually, it gets expensive. I've even seen a carrier with ar500 plates for 190, but no pouches attached and I'm not really trying to spend all that much.

Most of my pennies are going directly to guns/ammo because accessories don't have an impending threat of ban about them.

Looking for cheap so I can get one for me and the gf so we can practice tactics and just not have to put crap in backpacks.

Basically looking for something along these lines, but with more mag capacity:

    Opinions/recommendations appreciated.

Maybe this isn't in the right sub forum, but it is for rifle shootin' and more people look in these ones than the accessories forum... thanks guys.

Would also consider one of these man-bra type lightweight rigs, but would prefer a vest for more capacity. This one has 3 mag pouches that it says will hold 2-3 ak/ar mags, but I'm not sure if the closure system would keep them secure if the ak mags stuck out higher.http://www.aotacticalgear.com/Condor...ja8xoCubbw_wcB

On a budget I'd choose the first one

Since it can carry a pistol with mags

And rifle mags all at the same time

Do you really need to have the pistol on the vest? Seems to take up a lot of space and a holster on a belt seems to work just fine.
I have one of the vests you are talking about, and it carries 6 AK or AR mags plus 4 pistol mags, plus one extra pocket for extra stuff.
It also has a couple inside pockets for small stuff.
it is called a "load bearing vest" and it seems to do a good job of distributing the weight of the mags.

Blackhawk makes a few that might suit your needs...

Or you could also do a chest rig that can work with a pc later on. Haley d3 chest rig can attach to a carrier and has an expansion you can add also. The initial rig is about $170.

I usually use a daypack when hiking into an off-road range.

That said, there are a bunch of load carrying vest options, including but not limited these

Or get the US issued one, offered on amazon for about $20, and build on it. I've personally have never had any problem with them in the field. http://www.amazon.com/BRAND-NEW-ARMY...d+Bearing+Vest

Do not buy those airsoft/paintball companies vest. I get it's for training but spend the extra money and buy a 5.11 or something from a quality company. Yes you have to buy individual accessories and it cost quite a bit more but if you end up needing it and it fails, what then?. A quality vest will last in dirt mud and all sorts of weather. A cheap one will break in a sunny day. Just my .02 ymmv

Don't buy cheap airsoft crap. Just use a duffle bag or a backpack to haul ammo around. Put the fifty bucks you were going to spend towards quality gear.
