I just bought a new winchester m70, and while checking the floated barrel, the dollar bill stops at the sling stud. I called up the people at Winchester and they say it's no big deal and to just unscrew the stub a bit with an allen wrench through the hole. I was just wondering, should I remove the barrel from the stock or can I just do it with the gun fully assembled? how far should i unscrew? far enough for the dollar to slide past or is there a min amount of space the barrel needs to benefit from being floated?
Thanks.
