    I need help...

Need some help from my fellow cal gunners. Me and several of my buddies were out shooting a PAP M92 ak pistol this past weekend when this happened....

The ammo we were using was Fiocchi fmj 123 gr.
    Does anyone know the cause?
    Thanks in advance.

Was that the only round that did that? How many rounds were shot? You might get more traffic if you post this in the semi auto section or gunsmithing section.

Do you have another spent casing or round to put next to that and compare them? It really does look like the wrong cartridge was used, that or an out of battery discharge.

Appears to be a case, of the wrong case.

I don't have an AK, but base on the pictures, it look like the rifle extracted the case a little early, before the bullet exit the barrel and pressure drop. I am assuming that that case will not fit in the chamber.

              Wrong caliber

Looks like a .223 case I found in the brass bin at the range. Appears it was fired in a .204 or larger chambering.

Were you shooting at Sac Valley? If so, that's probably your case I found. Check your ammo and the caliber of the firearm and see if they are correct.

Stupid me, I didn't even think of that...
We did have 5.56 out there, too. My buddy was the one who loaded up the mag for the ak pistol, so it didn't even occur to me to check out the casing. And from looking at the casing it appears to be a 5.56 cartridge. I'll post up a pic of the head stamp in a moment.

No. We were up between Columbia and Angels Camp.

Well, at least you aren't alone then! Check the ammo, I'd bet you have a Mis-match.

Yeah, I will definitely check the ammo when I get the chance. When I do, I will post an update.
Thanks everyone for your guy's help. I appreciate it.

PSD Poongsan Metal Manufacturing Company Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea (probably at the Dongrae Ammunition Plant)

                            Looks like a Korean 5.56mm.

                            Oooops!

Yeah, we were shooting PMC XTAC 5.56 out there, too.
