    Winnie has a good home

I finally inherited my grand-dad's '84, there were a lot of grimey hands trying to glomb onto it. My granddad as a young man, drove an ore wagon out of a tungsten mine out around Lovelock Nevada.....this Winnie rode in the boot of the wagon and was used for small game and during deer season. It's tight as a drum, beat up a bit, octagonal barrel no checkering, iron sights and a 30/30. Serial # is 249587.......one site I visited said MD was 1902.......what do you folks know for sure?

    thanks

Maybe it's his first gun and he's excited enough to seek out a community with which to share it. Nice welcome.

Great guns, I have one as old as the hills and it looks and shoots great as well. The Winnie term is as bad if not worse than that of Remmy, just so you know. Oh yeah Welcome aboard.

I was going to suggest checking out Trap55's thread on winchester serial numbers but he is always quick on the draw.
