    My Marlin .45 Project

Well this is my project. Maybe 5-6 years ago I got a sweet 1894 from Big 5. Turns out .45 Colt ammo was scarce but I found some reloaded ammo at the OC Gun Show. Bad idea. I got a few low power loads I didn’t notice didn’t make it out of the barrel. They were all “mouse farts” so I figured my sights were still off. Well the barrel got bulged under the Minimum 16” so I couldn’t hack it and make a carbine out of it like my .357 guide gun. I moved a few times and somehow lost anything that was magazine related so I removed the barrel and found a octagonal Cowboy Comp barrel and mounted it. Now the on line missing parts hunt begins.
It shot great as a single shot with a scope since I have no sights on it. It’s a 20” barrel but I’m thinkin about having it shortened to 16”.

Oh awesome! Im a sucker for custom levers. 45 colt is great cartridge to reload for too. Try numrich for the mag parts.

it'll be a one-of-a-kind custom and if you have no luck looking at numrich / gun parts Corp. you might try Jack first in South Dakota.

      good luck

Personally I'd stick with the 20" barrel. Get a mag tube and cut to full length for your barrel, you'll have a couple more round capacity.
Your idea is also very good. I've always wanted a short octagon barrel Marlin.
What your looking to do should be pretty straight forward. Parts are easy to come by.

I've always liked the look of a Button magazine! ends just ahead of the fore end. They were popular around 1900. With the long octagon barrel it should look great! then add a tang sight and a Lyman front sight for the look of the 1 in 1000 rifles of the day. DR

If you want to see what a short octagon barrel looks like I have some pictures of one I cut down.
