Cheap Scope for Model 99?

Hey Guys,

Anyone have suggestion for a cheap (in price only) scope for a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage? I've been running an old 4x Weaver ('60's era), but getting knocked around in the truck has taken it's toll and she won't hold zero. I've seen many offerings at local stores, but don't know quite where to draw the line between cheap and p.o.s. I don't ever see using this rifle past 300 yds. but unfortunately, the iron sites are long gone from the rifle.

Scrounge around for a old used Leupold VX scope.
I'd resist the urge to pick something up from Big-5 or a big box retailer.

Check eBay for a Leupold 4x33. They can usually be found in the $125 range and you can't beat the warranty.

I am always looking at DVOR for deals on anything. You will have a lot of luck no matter what magnification you are looking for.

I'd buy another 60's era rifle, probably a Japanese made Bushnell Banner - the glass is fine and they usually cost around $40.00. Regarding the iron sights, replacing them from Numrich Arms is pretty cheap.

I have a Williams peep rear and an old Bushnell 3 to 9x scope with a post.

For $20 it would be hard to beat a Simmons 3-9x.

Repair or restore it, even get another reticle installed in the process. For the money invested, it's still cheaper than a scope of equal quality.

Think I'd stick with an old Weaver. You can find them here for good prices sometimes http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40 or you could have the scope you have repaired http://ironsightinc.com/index.php?route=common/weaver looks like it could take awhile though.
