Removing Cerakote

I searched and all I found was removing cerakote on satinless steels. I want to trade a stock of mine for another stock my friend has, which is a CTR. Anyone know how to remove cerakote on polymer? Anything that won't damage the stock, such as sandpaper, bead blast, etc. Unless those worked well to remove the cerakote without damaging the part. Thanks

I use all purpose paint remover in an aerosol can from Home Depot, works like a charm and takes everything off and turns the paint into a thin skin, kind of like a snake shedding. Doesn't bother park or anodizing either. It is nasty stuff (acid based) so chemical gloves and a face shield is nice.

I'd try a tiny dab of paint remover to see if it eats polymer before going nuts on it..... I wouldnt trust it without careful experimentation.......

Before that though.... I ask- why remove it?

Dont like the color? paint over it. Then claim the cerakote is a space age protective layer you can paint over however you wish.

as long as you remove it quickly it won't damage the polymer. you may have to do it twice but it's better than buying another stock.

Didn't think about the paint. Krylon matte black should match the original color, correct? I have an all black rifle, that's all.

He won't. Trading my STR for a CTR. Thought I would get a trade the first day I posted that. Lol. So I asked my buddy if he was interested in trading. Thanks guys for the help

The krylon flat camo line of paint works very well and is easy to get a nice smooth finish.
