2nd barrel for bolt action...methods & advice

If I were doing it, it would be a square bottomed blind hole made with a 1/4" endmill and it would be about 1/10" deep.

I figured that a 1/4" end mill would be about right.

You forgot the flat head screwdriver for the action screw....

I admit to not taking the stock into account, but I assumed that would be the easiest part of all of this.

I used to make switch barrels that used a jam nut like a savage. The barrel would be turned in by hand until it hit a stop (a pin in the receiver) then the jam nut torqued.

Having a spare barrel is a great idea. I've been doing it for years.

The best resulted happened when I attached a spare action and spare stock to my spare barrel.

my wife would kill me if i bought a spare action

with that said, i am thinking about another barrel, but not sure if i want to do the same chambering or a different one.
