BAT not on CA's approved DOJ list...what next?

So I went to go DROS my BAT model M action to find out that BAT is not on CA's list of approved firearms manufactures, so their name is not even in the system.

I called BAT and it seemed that they were not willing to help, but I could be wrong. My FFL is going to help follow up on this to get them on the approved list.

Anyone have any ideas of how to "help" BAT get on the approved list? I find it hard to believe I am the first person to run into this issue.

There is no approved list of rifle manufacturers. There is only a list of banned rifles.

Tell them to put "USA" in the manufacturer area in DROS. This is more like the FFL not knowing what they are doing.

Please let CGF know via Hotline website if a (legally configured, not banned by name) rifle sale is blocked simply because of a DROS system entry limitation.

Yes, USA should be enterable in mfg field (and perhaps notations elsewhere).

There is no approval required for long gun sales [other than being fundamentally legal vis a vis configured features/make/model etc.]. A data entry technical issue cannot block sale of said rifle.

If it does, time to litigate.

So when my FFL searches for BAT in the DROS system, they still dont see that manufacture in the system...so what would they choose? my FFL seems to think that each firearms mfg was suppose to fill something out in order for their firearms to be legal to sell in CA...again, could be wrong.

all part of the plan to make owning firearms that much harder i guess?

They are going to call DOJ in the AM, to see if they can straighten it out. weird though...my heart sank and killed my mood today

As noted above, the FFL will use the made in USA trick. When he is done printing your DROS he needs to go to the report a issue section on his DROS main screen. Submit the issue report saying "insert manufacturer" is not listed on the long gun drop down menu.
Most of us FFL'S have had to do this numerous times for different manufacturers. I don't think DOJ had ANY idea how many long gun manufacturer there are.

In defense of Barska, I have their 20-60x spotting scope for range use and it works very well for me.

Im hoping to "find" the cash for the 2014 model NF Competition, but might settle for the 2013 model. We'll see.

I really like the Vortex Razor GenII in MOA, but the reticle is not fine enough for 1000 yard precision work IMO, but might be more versatile if I ever decide to use the setup for a more tactical application if F-open stops becoming appealing to me (although, I cant see this happening, at least not yet )

There is no USA selection in the new DROS system. I have checked as ATI isn't on there either. There is though an America selection though which is what I would use for manufacture.

Issue resolved. I am heading over to my FFL after work to DROS it.
