I figured this deserved it's own thread.

So I noticed there are new stainless versions of the ruger American rifle.
But this predator model seems more interesting.
Compared to the standard RAR, the stock is green instead of black.
It has a scope rail.
The barrel has a heavier profile, and is threaded. #tactical
Most calibers are 22", but I love that the 308 is only 18"!
I want one!

I'm digging the heavier profile barrel also the 1:8 twist on the .223 is a nice touch for a budget bolt gun.

Someone finally figured out what twists threaded heavy barrels should be.
Now if that had only gone 1:8 on the 243 too...

Nice to see them only $40 more than the standard ones.
I'm guessing that translates directly to retail?
So Buds, for instance, May sell it for $382?

I was looking at the Savage 11 Hog Hunter,
which has a 20" barrel, internal blind mag, and iron sights.
That last one, I love.
For just a little more $.
Also, I believe it is compatible with any Savage 10 compatible chassis.
Which is nice.

Another is this ever popular MVP in 308.
I'm turned on by that MDT LSS chassis that uses an AR mag release....
But it starts to seem silly once you're spending the same $ that could get me a
DPMS G2 AP4.

So for sub $400, for a sub 40" 308 with a threaded barrel seems like a sweet deal.
I'm saving now!

In 308, how do you guys think this compares to the Rem 700 spa tac?

No one seems to dig the Hogue stock of the Remy 700 SPS.
Im ok with it. It is pretty damn flexy, tho. So plan to swap that out.
Also, it's the AAC-SD version of the 700 SPS that has the comparible threaded 1:10 twist barrel.
The Remy is beefy. So is it's price.
It's better investment for a project gun with great aftermarket.
This Ruger seems like a better deal out of the box, if you don't plan on customizing it.

Sweet. Another inexpensive 6.5CM option for me. I was looking at the Savage 11THXP as my first bolt gun but might have to give this Ruger a try depending on reviews.

I ***think*** I saw a Boyd's stock for the standard Ruger American. Just remember you will have to do some good bedding to equal the factory stock's accuracy.
