Any One have A Savage Lever Gun

I like the design of it. Would like to know what the Calgunners crowd thinks of them. If you own please do post pics

I have an old, ugly 99E in 243. They're fun little guns and you can use pointed bullets because of the rotary magazine.

I kick myself for passing on one in .300 savage. I think they're terribly ugly, but handle nice, and now I want one again.

Most people think they are ugly and don't want anything to do with them, until they use one for a bit. I got the savage bug awhile back.
You really have to try one. The action is great, pretty accurate, the balance and feel is just great. I'm hooked!
Added a unique 22 Hi-Power to the pack, most awesome, accurate lever I own.
I guess the Europeons swear by this round, the only reason they are made anymore. Metric size caliber rating is 5.6 X 54R. I have other levers, but the Model 99 Savage is my choice to shoot.

          Savage 99, 300 Savage.

It's accurate, uses pointy bullets for better BC, and handles really nice. Action is strong. They handle a scope without cartridge ejection issues too.

I find, even with stel butt-plate, it is much more comfortable to shoot than a Winchester 94 30-30. Although I like the classic style of the Winchester 94, the straight line stock just has more felt recoil. And, when you work the 94 action, half the guts of the action are hanging out.

I think the 250 and 300 Savage were way ahead of the 30-30 when introduced, and still are today. I would much rather shoot 250 savage, 300 Savage, or 243/308 over the 30-30.

I kick myself for passing on a nice Mdl-99 in 250 Savage some years back... that is a really nice cartridge, even now.

I would disagree that they are ugly; they have really nice lines. I like the style of the Win-94, but I think the Savage is just as nice or nicer looking.

IDK why everyone says theyre ugly. I think theyre very handsome looking with nice lines. I like the shape of the lever especially.

300 savage was my first rifle that my father bought me when I was in third grade Still have it probably going to give it to my son on his first deer hunt. The last gun show that I went to there where 2 there for $425 apiece before that the price was around $700 ?

I have one in 308. It was my Grandfathers and then mine.

Bit of info. A Savage lever rifle was in the zombie epic Dawn of the Dead. I think it was a 300 with a scope on it. Nice rifle.

I've got a 99G (takedown) in .303 Savage. Cool lever action.

I have a 99 in 250-3000 that my granpa gave me 32 yrs ago as my first hunting rifle. It's still a sweet shooter.

They are very cool, but I personally have no use for one though I thought I did. I could not find a good specimen of the Savage so I bought the Winchester 88 version but as soon as I held it I knew it was not for me. SOLD!

My step dad had a 99 in .300 Savage, that rifle not only took a lot of deer but when he was working drilling to run a water line under the street the drill would hit a large rock/ boulder so he'd break out the Savage and put a couple of rounds into the rock to break it up so he could finish drilling the tunnel. Gun went to my step brother but I'd been proud to own it john was a great guy also.
If I ever see one and price was right I'd buy.

I have one in .358 Winchester. It's pretty hard hitting and accurate enough.
