    Just got a new rifle!

I went to bass pro today with intentions of buying a savage 11/111 trophy hunter in .270 because the guy reccomended it to me. Or a weatherby vanguard S2 in .270 as a back up. Well anyway I get there and they sold the 11/111 and I was a little bummed but then I asked what would be a good all around hunting rifle and he picked up the tikka t3 lite in .270 and with one finger open the bolt and it went all the way back so smoothly. And then I held it, so damn lite! So I bought it, with a Nikon prostaff 3-9x40. It came out to $821 (with some elk jerky) but after the gift cards and the 10% off with approval for the credit card it came out to $661! Definitely worth saving a little every paycheck for this.

So guys, how did I do?!

You got yourself one fine rifle. I would have put a 3X9X40 Leupold on it as I did the two I own. Put a Limbsaver direct replacement recoil pad on it and a Claw sling and you are good to go.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I bought a Tikka T3 superlite in .308 recently. Tried once to sight my Leopold VX2 at 100 yard indoor, I'll have to retake that test.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

I was thinking about putting a Leopold on it but I love the way the Nikons glass was. Plus the Leopold was really expencive. And since I got em both at bass pro they'll mount and bore site the rifle for free!

Awesome choice. I was set on getting one, but decided the 700 heavy barrel fit my needs/wants better.

Check out Tikkashooters.com. In that large caliber I'd do the $30 recoil lug upgrade right away.

I think you did extremely well (well, maybe not the jerky). I have two Tikka's:
A .223 Lite and a .308 Sporter. Both are incredible bolt guns and I paid a bit more but they are left-handed and thus harder to find and a less-competitive market.
Accurate, smooth operating, great trigger, reliable, the lite is lightweight. And there really isn't much you should (or can) do to it. The standard mod is to replace the end cap on the action (the black plastic thing). It is alleged that it often cracks. Many companies sell a metal or c/f replacement that I suggest you purchase. Other companies sell replacement bolt handles whose need is a function of personal taste. But unlike other brands, the bolt handle assembly is a simple replacement process that can be done in 10 minutes by the user.
Finally there is a trigger replacement but few think it's worth it. BTW, there is a simple way of modifying the trigger weight of the gun. You have to remove the stock from the rest of the gun but after that it's simple. Youtube is your friend. Check out the folks at TikkaPerformance for their videos and parts.
And GL. Welcome to the Finnish club.
