I just bought a slightly used .920 diameter 20" stainless steel "McMillan Gold Stock" barrel in 6X47/222RM for a Remington 700. I have a Remington 700 chambered in 300 AAC as a "donor" and already reload for the 6X47 cartridge. Mag follower, case head diameter are the same, am I correct that a barrel change & headspacing should complete the change?

The 6X47 is a bit longer than a standard 223/300AAC cartridge. You may need to find a 222 REM MAG follower and magazine block. Check the Remington parts list for the part numbers.I just bought a slightly used .920 diameter 20" stainless steel "McMillan Gold Stock" barrel in 6X47/222RM for a Remington 700. Rate of twist is 1 in 7" and the barrel is a varmint profile, 16" with a 5/8X24 threaded muzzle. Once I check with the fellow doing the work, ensuring the new barrel will work, etc - I'll let you know first.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
