    barrel threading in SFV/SCV??

I have a Savage model 10 heavy barrel. I'd like to get it threaded, can anyone suggest a good smith in the San Fernando or Santa Clarita valley.

He is in van nuys. Make an appointment. He will do it while you wait. If you have a brake he can time it also.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

^ No. But that's a good suggestion and I'm glad you mentioned it.

I threaded 4 barrels today, one of them twice!

On a bolt gun build, the back of the barrel is threaded to fit the action before chambering, then the front is threaded if a muzzle brake is being fitted...

                    Someone besides Randall threads barrels?

He did an awesome job threading the barrel and timing the brake on my Mosin-Nagant heavy barrel build.

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                    Come on...what harm??

Short answer? UK-59 heavy machine gun barrel that I got cheap a few years ago. This was going to be my 'budget' LR Mosin-Nagant rifle build. What could go wrong? (If you google "UK-59 barrel" you'll get an idea of what people are doing with these things out in the world, it's pretty impressive)

Long answer? Oh, wait...you have to have the barrel mounted, headspaced, threaded, comp'd, the metal parked...And since you're going most of the way, you might as well go all the way and get one of those Timney triggers for it too. And a scope mount...and a bent bolt handle...and a super-cool 'operator approved' tactical bolt handle...you probably want a stock for it too, right?

It started with a UK-59 barrel and a stripped M-N reciever:

                        A bag of parts:

Fast-forward a bunch, after Randall did that voodoo that he does so well:

I'm waiting on a custom inletted stock for it...the stock maker is backordered about 6 weeks, though. Once I get all the bits together and get it out to the range, I'll post a thread on my 'budget' Mosin build.

OP, sorry for the thread jack!
