Scope Base for Pre-64 Winchester Model 70

I currently have a Pre-64 Winchester model 70s thats awaiting a McMillan stock.. The current rings and bases from the 1960s will not cut it as I'm going to install a Leupold scope with a larger objective and a 30mm tube... Specifically a VX-6 2-12x42.. Does anyone made a one piece weaver or picatinny style scope base for this rifle or I am stuck with two piece bases? The rifle was factory drilled and tapped from what I can tell..

The rifle was originally a .300 H&H that was rechambered to .300 weatherby in 1955 by Roy Weatherby himself. When the rifle came into my possession it had 6" hacked off the barrel to make it a more efficient brush gun... Its previous owner hunted Elk with it in heavy timber.. All I know is that muzzle flash and muzzle blast is ridiculous.. The stock was also cut down and a recoil pad was added.. I DID NOT CUT UP AN ORIGINAL PRE-64 MODEL 70.. Just looking for advice on scope mounting options..

I've used the Leupold STD bases and rings on two Winchester M70's and two Remington 700 rifles. They are solid and you can get them in single or double mounts. http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shoot...nting-systems/

how old is it? there are different hole patterns on the pre-64 Model 70s - pre or post war, basically is it notched for a stripper clip? if it is not, than Talley or _____, come highly praised (I will fill in the blank when I remember who it is, starts with an S)

edit; took some searching but I found it - S&K Scope Mounts

ALL "Pre 64" actions are the same length. 300 H&H actions have the M 70 Target model mount hole spacing, which is different from the rest of the calibers. When you are searching for a modern rail, make sure you specify that it is for this caliber.

That 3" action is worth the price of a modern hunting rifle to someone who wanted to build a dangerous game gun.
