    SwitchBarrel at 1000 Yard Nationals?

I predicted our own SwitchBarrel (Rick Duncan) would win it all at 1000 yards this year but all I have is the two gun totals.
    1st place in score.
    6th place for group.
    I think he has a shot(pun intended)

Of course it goes to the driver, but would be nice to know what he's driving.

I didn't want to post what he was using in case he didn't win it all.I know he has been shooting a 6 Dasher in lightgun and a 284 Shehane in heavygun but I was hoping he went to all 6 Dashers this year.

The heavygun group winner was using a 300 WSM.

To be the National Champion they total up how you placed individually in lightgun group lightgun score heavygun group and heavygun score and the lowest total is crowned National Champion.

I only have the two gun aggregates so I might be way off base but atleast Rick is a regular poster here and his advice is always spot on.

I just heard from Bob Dorton that Rick Duncan took home the big trophy and he was using a 6 Dasher in both light and heavygun.
Hopefully SwitchBarrel will see this and let us know for sure.
I think he was using Varget powder and Lapua brass but I don't know what bullet and primer.

                Dasher's

                Hi Lynn-

Yep, diminutive little 6 Dasher in both light and heavy gun.
Shot the Barnard Dasher light gun and pulled the .284 Shehane barrel from my Nesika light gun to put a heavier Dasher barrel on. Used it as the "heavy gun".

Lapua 6 BR brass, 6mm Berger 108's, Varget, CCI 450's. Same load works awesome in both barrels.

3030 FPS & ~26.5 MOA drop at 1K from 100 yd zero. (for those not familiar).

Won the F-Class benchrest match in the rain on Friday too
                (197-8x & 200-11x) shooting the Nesika Dasher.
(sucked being in the pits pulling targets in the rain)

                -Rick

                  Congrats!

Are stats posted anyplace the public can view them? It would be interesting to see everyone's stats even if names are redacted. I'm just curious how stiff the competition is. It would also give me an idea how much different it is from FCSA matches.

You don't know what you are doing you need a 338 Lapua Mag to shoot at 1000 yards, don't you read? All the operators use the 338, geeze.

To make things even worse, I've never owned a .308

Not much posted yet. One of the shooters posted some day one stats and the final two gun results here:

Thanks. Someday I hope to have the TIME and money to build a little BR gun and join you guys. But, that probably won't happen until I retire which is still 15-25 years away. I don't see myself as ever being near the top. I've only shot one single digit 6 target agg in all the FCSA matches I've been to but, it looks like there are plenty of shooters shooting 1-1.5 moa and having fun.

Guys shouldn't be shooting if they aren't having fun - there are a few that take it too serious in my opinion. I go to the match hoping to not end up dead last, anything above that is gravy. Sounds like you're around my age (44)? The two gun totals at the bottom of the link above are for 12 targets, twice as many opportunities to shoot double digit aggs .

Hey Rick Congratulations from Lynn Sr and Lynn Jr!!!!!!
I picked you as the winner about a month ago on another thread. It was getting better and better for you each year and was bound to happen.

Are you now trying to tell us you shot a 6 Dasher in all 3 categories at 1000 yards and NOT a 308 are You crazy?

A 108 grain bullet at 3030 fps with 26.5 MOA and about 33 grains of powder with great barrel life and no recoil. Most here think you need 45 grains of powder and 44 MOA to shoot at 1000 yards I am glad You didn't listen.

I never shot the F-bench but that little Dasher round is plain old tough to beat.

Again Congrats on your Two National Titles. You da man!!!
