Would like to know if when you purchased your was the price higher of lower then the market price ? Do you buy them as a sniper rifle as issued or did you modify a regular issue rifle into a sniper version?

I have two stock Mosins, a M91/30 which was purchased at Big 5 with a coupon I received from a fellow calgunner. It was in the $140 range plus tax and DROS. The other is a M44 which I purchased at a local gun show for $180 and I was able to walk out the door. Did I pay to much? Maybe compared to some of the other folks on here that bought multiple Mosins for under a $100. Do I feel like I paid to much? Nope, I am happy with both purchases. FYI I haven't even cleaned the cosmoline off the Big 5 Mosin and have had it and an ATI stock for about 7-8 months.Comment

I hear that there are some really nice stocks out there. One called the Arch Angel. Anyone have a good experience with one of these?Formerly lugerdevil666

I have several, some snipers and some regular 91/30, M44, M59, 91/38 rifles.
If you want to install an aftermarket stock, go for it. But try the regular stock also, you might be surprised.Comment

I hear the price run up to around $675.00 now but when they first came to the U.S. they were around like $500.00 or soFormerly lugerdevil666

There are 2 things going on here:
1 A "Mosin Nagant Sniper" refers to an original (or reproduction) Mosin Sniper rifle.. with a scope/mount like the PEM, PU etc? (sorry not an expert on the scopes/mounts)
2 "Modernized" "Accurized" "Sporter" "Bubba" etc refer to a modern scoped rifle.. calling it a "sniper" is probably going to attract flames.
Which one are you looking for info on?
Because the two are very different and information for one doesn't necessarily apply to the other.
If you dropped an original sniper into a Arch Angel stock I think some people would kill you.Comment

In my opinion, If you are going to change the stock and "customize" the rifle, dont get a sniper. A mosin sniper has value as a original condition rifle.Comment

Price has gone up, as the Mosin rifle has become very popular. I expect the price to continue to rise. Every time price comes up, people talk about how they used to be able to buy them for under $100 bucks, but everything is more expensive now. I feel they are still a great value. Original condition Mosin snipers go for more than a regular mosin, but then so does an original good condition Westinghouse or Remington Mosin.
You can still find deals, but they are a great rifle even if you have to pay a couple hundred bucks.Comment
