I installed a Timney on my sons hunting rifle and we both really like it. Very easy to install, only took me 30 minutes including cutting some of the stock away so the new trigger would fit. I've shot rifles with Jewel triggers on them and they are better in my opinion but I've heard they don't like getting dirty.Comment

Take a look at the new Timney Calvin Elite. Reliability (hopefully) of a Timney, feels like a jewel. I tried one on a friends rifle and immediately went home and ordered one. I believe it can be adjusted down to 8oz.Billy Goat Machine

Midway just put Timney's on sale.Comment

I migrated from Jewel to Timney in my 700s and custom guns on 700-compatible receivers.
The Timneys are really reliable and consistent. The jewels have issues if you take rifle classes that require field work. The only issue I have ever had with Timney is that my AICS stocks required a tiny bit of inletting to use the trigger.
And as an added bonus, the Timneys are cheap and available everywhere.Comment

Go with a Timney if you are hunting or going to get it dirty!!
For the bench a Jewel is a great choice but they do not like field work. (dirt dust water)Comment

Based on the reviews of the Timney 510 at Midway USA...there were only few negative reviews compared to the dozens and dozens of positive ones. I actually found the best price at Redhawk Rifles as mentioned above. $116.00 shipped isn't a bad price.
Even though I was considering a Jewel system, My 700 will be used for hunting.
Thank you for all your help. I valued every ones in put.

Have a couple Timney/Calvins on order. Supposed to give Jewell a run for his money.
We'll see.
The 510 Timney is a decent trigger.
Anyone know what trigger the US Army is using in their M24?Last edited by kendog4570; 04-10-2014, 9:11 AM.Comment
