For some reason the rifle just works for me. Super easy to keep nailing a coke can at 50 yards.
I have the same and love it, it is my favorite lever to shoot. I have put tens of thousands of rounds through mine in both smokeless and black powder loads. Incredibly accurate and the short barrel makes it super fast for getting on sight. The only thing I do not like is that it does not hold 10 rounds unless I load it with 44 specials, with 44 magnum it holds 9.

I've been familiar with some of these (own a winchester 94 30-30 and Rossi 92 .45LC). Just wanted to say I never heard of the Ruger 96 in centerfire! So, went to Gunbroker and there are 0 for sale!
So I gotta find out about these Rugers.

Chuck Hawks did a test with Henry, Winchester, and Marlin current 30-30's and said the Henry was the best rifle.

The Henry 22 lever I own is darn near perfect gun.

Oh and the Win 94 (and old one) and the Rossi 92 I own, neither will take a scope on top the receiver. Marlins are classic scope rifle.

              Bought a Rossi 44mag,
really great looking gun and turned out pretty accurate-
              then the tube fell apart,
closer inspection I see the dovetail joint attaching the tube to the barrel was real sloppy,
could have sent it back to factory but I had a local work on it,
they didn't fix it properly, so now I have a project
But I like the gun enough otherwise to invest in it,
fine shooter, looks and handles great with nice case hardening, heavy octagon barrel
