    JM stamp for Marlin 336W

    Im looking at a Marlin 336W that was mfg in 2002. The owner says it doesnt have a jm stamp on it,..I thought all pre Remington Marlins had the JM stamp on the barrel?

      Check serial number for year of mfg.

        The stamps aren't always very clearly done, so you might just see a (j or an n) like the edge of JM in an oval. It's found right at the junction of the barrel & reciever on the left side.

          he ended up backing out of deal and selling it to his brother..worked for me just picked up a Marlin 336 30-30 with a very distinct JM with a circle around it stamped on barrel made in North Haven Conn..mfg 1981

            If it says New Haven, that was made about 1969 or older. They moved the plant to North Haven after that. Anyway, you have a gun without the crossbow safety, which will hold more value.
