    Remington 678

I just got my 678 back from the gunsmith. I've always liked the looks of the 600 series. This one has some of the prettiest wood I've ever seen on a factory rifle. I got this one from a friend for an extremely good price because it was chambered in .222 Remington and he was having a hard time finding ammo at an affordable price. I had it rechambered in .223 Remington and can't wait to go to the range. Most people like to brag about how much the spent on their guns. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. I am thankful for a good friend who sold me this rifle and a good gunsmith at a great shop that gave me a break on the work. I couldn't afford a brand new bolt gun.

If you hadn't re-chambered you could have got PPU ammo. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/b...spx?c=96&s=905 Then reloaded very affordable.

      I'm not familiar with a Rem 678. Is it a 600, 660 or 788?

        Remington 678

The 678 is a later version of the 600. Same basic action.

My guess is 673, But I didn't know they chambered it in 222.

That may be so but I prefer to do business with American manufacturers.

Bruce, My mistake. I went by what I was told. I finally actually checked what was stamped on the rifle. It is the 660. Even so I am more than happy with my investment after pricing the used gun market.

You can't go wrong with the 660. A tough action that a lot of us wish Remington still made.
