Found a source for left handed Mausers

Any of you lefties that want a controlled feed, hunting rifle, I found a distributor with some for sale.

We did a group buy on another website, for left handed Zastava Mausers from K-Var Corp out of Las Vegas in 2012. I was just on their website and they have some more left handed Mausers for sale.

    I saw lefty M70s in 22.250, 270 & 308 for $589. A 9.3x62 for $599 and 458 Win mag for $839 available.

K-Var specializes in the AK market offering AK rifles, parts, and accessories. We also now carry AR-15 as well as many other popular calibers and styles of firearms, parts, and accessories.

I bought from them in 2012, they had no problem doing it then.

They will ship to CA. I know because I bought the .308 M70 they had in January this year. I will say though if I could do it again I would probably choose a longer cartridge. The action is the same length regardless (just uses a magazine spacer for shorter rounds). The Mauser 98 was designed to feed the longer 8mm cartridge and the short rounds just don't feed as well. I had to put a little bit of work into mine to make it feed more reliably. The actions are rough at first but will slick up nicely with lot of use. I'm thinking of buying another in 7x57.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear they ship to CA.
Re the long/short action, I don't think I'd want to shoot bigger/longer than .308. I have a hope of some day shooting a 338 Lapua but I'd have to find a place to use it. And that's all a separate thread.
Maybe it's just not a good match.
                Thx,

Part of me says to get one simply so that I have a left-handed rifle. But seeing as only lefty in our family is a nephew who isn't all that interested in shooting, I can't really justify it at the moment. And they don't have .308, which I already reload for. I'll just have to keep an eye on them for a while, and see if their stock and my funds ever happen to match up.

I need to watch for a 6.5 x 55. The prices look good.

If you're already loading for .308 and don't want to reload or buy ammo for another caliber I get that. But if you can load 30-06, 270, 7x57, or 6.5x55 and they will all fit the same niche as a .308 Win with similar performance and recoil. The advantage of a short action bolt rifle is really in weight savings. Since the .308 Zastava M70 uses the same size action as the 30-06 there are no weight savings to be had. In my mind at least it makes sense to pick the 06 which can shoot the same 150gr 30 cal bullets at 2800fps but will feed longer cartridges better (longer cartridges tend to feed better than short ones with just because they transition from the magazine to the feed ramp and chamber at a less drastic angle. I do like the gun, but in hindsight realized that there was no advantage to choosing a short action caliber in this particular rifle.
