Folks,
Went to Angeles yesterday and put some rounds through my new Ruger Predator in .308. Used my own homegrown 175 SMK BTHP and turned in some excellent groups. As small as .34 inch 3 shot at 100 yards. Did some 1.10 inch with the 190 gr SMK, but barrel was really hot.
Rifle is topped with a Meopta 6x18x50 Meopro with BDC reticle. Differences that I noted between my 700 vs M77 is the bolt on the Ruger is alot sloppier. It takes a bit before it smoothes out. After about 30 rounds of fire the zero wandered a bit, about an inch high at 100 yards. But the fit and finish on the Ruger is fantastic!!!!!!. I like the Mauser claw action better than push feed.
The barrel contour on the Ruger is about a medium, but it tapers to slightly larger than a sporter, which could explain some of the wandering. A2
