Trigger pull on Rem 700 police

My 700 has a Timney trigger set at 1.5lbs
Alittle to light for my taste. Considering having it set to 2.5-3 lbs.

Was wondering if anyone else likes a 3lb trigger on their sniper rifle?

Trigger pull seems to be something that is dependent on all of your rifles.

If you have 5 guns set at 1.5 pounds and one set at 3 pounds you probably won't like the one set at 3 pounds.

If you have 5 guns all set at 3 pounds and one set at 1.5 pounds you probably won't like the lighter pull weight.

I have a 2 pound trigger on my hunting rifle and my father thinks the safety is always on or the trigger is broken because he is used to shooting extremely light triggers.

Triggers and scopes seem to be the two things on rifles that come down to personal choice.

Thanks for the replies. Local smith wants $85 to adjust my Timney to 3lbs.

          Can I do it myself?

My X-mark pro will not go below 4lbs it seems, maybe a little under if I take the screw almost all the way out, can't wait to get a timney

If you don't want an aftermarket trigger, this turned out to be a nice mod.

Did it on my .223 Rem 700 since it was a budget build and it was a welcome improvement over the factory. Not mind blowing, but better.

My Timney on my 308 Rem 700 is set around 2 to 2.5 lb and for me that's just about perfect...

Yea I've HD my eye on a jewel or Timney for the longest time. Just don't shoot this gun enough to justify it. Hopefully scheduling permits I can start making it out to more CAPRC events and Angeles and make it a reason to upgrade finally.

I could spend $100 on a lot worse in this sport.

After getting a Timney 510 I found it was a very worthy upgrade...

I shoot much better with it than I did with a factory trigger. I found it easier to consistently break the shot over the OEM trigger.

Holy cow, $85 to change the pull weight UP to 3lbs?
I can do that for like $20 in 10 minutes.
You can also do it yourself.
Increasing pull weight will not require any adjustment to overtravel or engagement.
Only adjust the pull weight screw.

Lightening pull weight is more involved as you have to be sure you have enough engagement for the safety to work correctly, for the trigger not to trip until actualy pulled and THEN adjust the pull weight to ensure the trigger won't "bump"off...
