Savage MKII accu trigger job question

Hello All,

I would like to lightened my trigger pull on my Savage and just wondering whether I should purchase a trigger assembly or have a gunsmith perform a trigger job. Can anyone give me some insight which is the best route? And does anyone know any local guns store (San Diego) that are able to perform the job? Appreciate anyone help/opinion in advance.

Thanks for the reply...I have adjusted to the lightest pull however, it feels like it's not light enough. I do not have a scale but the lightest setting doesn't feel 1.5lbs as indicated on the bigger caliber rifles. I have a Savage 10BA and also has an Accu trigger but that rifle feels lighter when adjusted. I'm not sure if both triggers have the same parameters and that is why I'm inquiring. Again, thanks...

It is depends on the model of your Savage.
The target actions suppose to adjust down to 6 ozs. and model 12 (varmint) actions can go down to 1.5 lbs but the other models are (I think) 2.5 lbs.

Thanks for the reply Savion...My Savage MKII TR is only rated down to 3.5lbs (upon doing my research) as Savage did not mention on their website. The 1.5 lbs. are more for the center fire bolt action rifle as with my Savage 10BA. I did find an after market trigger that goes down to 1.5 lbs.; just need to make sure the reviews are good. I also discovered that I need to be aware with the type of receiver I have or a spring/pin will not fit and will cause to dry fire as soon as I chamber a round. Glad that there are some forum had the same dislike that I encountered. I really appreciate your reply...I apologize on how I asked my question. It was a little misleading.

I believe center fire rifle trigger can go down to the oz. unfortunate, mine is a rim fire and it only go down to 1.5 lbs. I looked at sharp shooter supply and they only offered center fire trigger. thanks for looking up

I have 2 of these kits, one in my MKII FVT and one in my 93R17 FV. Takes about 20 min to swap a few parts.

The lowest setting would set off the trigger when I closed the bolt but a few turns of the spring and it is perfect. The accublade will keep the gun from firing if this does happen BTW.

have you heard of rifle basix triggers? sounds appealing but not sure bout quality

If you replace the trigger, it's usually just 2 pins to take out the old one and install a new trigger group.

I never looked into anything else after I read the reviews on the Apachee Trigger. It keeps most of your original parts and can be put back to original...& is about $30 cheaper. Im pretty sure that in the thread I posted they say the lowest setting safely achieved with this system is about 16oz.

Can't find a store online that sell this trigger. Could you recommend an online store? Also would like to read up on the manufacturer but could not locate online. Please send me a link if you know of any.

Thanks postal...And yes I have checked both forums. The trigger I have in mind did mentioned that it comes with instruction and also read it online...Seems simple enough. Guess I'll find out when I order one.

No store sells it. You will have to contact RimfireCentral member rdssert. If you read the link I posted you will also find a lot of reviews and information.
