Best bipod for Rem700?

I had been using a caldwell pivot 6-9" bipod that mounts on the sling stud, but I think it was a bad choice and with all the messing around I did with it is busted. I am looking for a new one to put on my 30-06 Rem700.

I looked at the Blackhawk models and they appear to be the same as the Caldwell in terms of design and quality of workmanship. Harris bipods have a great name, but I don't want to pay a premium price for just the name. So my two questions are simple. Are the Harris bipods better? Why? Any other good, rugged bipod that would be worth looking at? What about pan and swivel models (are they worth it)?

Harris is the the best and original. Caldwell's are close copies, but marginally less durable with slightly lower gage metal differences in the springs.

I own both. Caldwell is OK for the weekend paper puncher. Personally I'd invest in a Harris if I wanted or needed to count on (competition, hunting, etc.), and Caldwell for hobby fun on the local range. The Caldwell is sturdy and frequently on sale at Big 5.

My Remy 700 has the Harris and the Caldwell does double duty between a couple of other paper punchers.

If you want a great premium bipod with the price to go along with it, get an Atlas. If price is an issue, Harris.

I have the Atlas and a Harris BRM-S, though I haven't used the Harris yet. I can say, however, that the Atlas is fantastic. The Atlas is on a LMT MWS and the Harris is going to go on the 700 5R that gets out of jail tomorrow.

So what I am hearing and seeing (thanks for the video link) is that I can't go wrong with the Atlas or the Harris. The Atlas would require mounting the rail to the bottom of the forend to go on my 700 or my Savage, but could easily go straight on my AR. It appears to be durable enough to be switched between the rifles until I can buy one for each. The Caldwell certainly wasn't, but I may get another for plinking at the range. Thanks for all the advice.

The harris bipods are absolutely WORTH the price.
They are better made and don't break or wear out.
That's probably why they are the standard issue on most military/police sniper rifles.

Video doesnt take into account aftermarket feet that are not destructive and dont wiggle like what was shown in the video.

I have a Harris on my Savage Trophy Hunter XP .30-06. I Like it. I don't love it. This was my very first Bipod. The installation was VERY EASY. It works well on the bench. I can see the rubber feet causing issues after a few years of heavy use but we'll see.

I love the GG&G Quick Detach Heavy Duty XDS Bipod that is on my Savage 110BA .338 LM more but it was about 2x the price.

does Atlas bipod fit on standard hogue 700 stock swivel? and how hard is it switch from rail version to swivel version?

If I remember correctly, all 3 versions of the Atlas bipod (clamp, QD and no-clamp) only work with rails though the no-clamp will work with a spigot adapter for Accuracy International rifles/chassis systems. You need a sling stud adapter to fit the atlas to a standard stock swivel like the one on a 700. It's basically a small rail section that replaces the sling stud. I didn't want to do this to my 700, so I got the Harris instead.

Mostly like in near future ill be changing out the stock. I just dont want to buy multiple bipod to get it fit.
