Bought my first bolt action today.

Did a PPT today with another calgunner and while waiting a bolt action caught my attention.

It's a Ruger American 30-06. I was reading reviews online while my PPT was being completed and most were positive.

Any advice or suggestions on optics? I'm looking into a 3-9, 4-12 Leupold.

Its a great hunting rig. Stiffen the stock up or replace it. Put a nice 3-9 or 4-12 power scope on it. Go shoot some pigs, deer, bear, antelope.

Congrats. You're gonna love bolt actions. They are super acurate. The big round is gonna kick pretty hard but its really fun.

I have Ruger Americans in both .243 and .270 with Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 scopes and they both shoot very well - especially for the price! I don't think you'll be disappointed if you buy one.
