Any one have any experience with these? My uncle wants to give me one for. $400. He said there has been some bolt issues that have to be repaired. The repairs cause me some concern allegedly one can pull the bolt back and the gun can accidentally discharge? Anyone heard of that? Thanks

It kinda depends what you want it for. A sporterized 1903 with worse sights than an original 1903 all for the price of a decent savage? Meh. $400 is a lot for a sporter that needs work.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.

Yeah the price I'm not too worried about. I have also seen them around 1000. In addition too that it is a family gun and I'd pay a premium to carry a firearm one of great uncles or grandfather carried. I'm really just looking for know issues or stuff I should look out for?Comment

In that case just look for all the stuff that goes wrong on an 03. I can't really think of anything unless someone overworked the trigger, which might have been the case here.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.

This is only thing I can think of too. You should be able to find parts to fix it pretty easy though I think.sigpic

I heard some of the old springfields had issues with the receivers. Such as them being overly brittle and not being safe to fire. Does any one know if this would have carried over to the sedgleys? Is there anyone considered an expert I can contact on sedgley sporters?Comment

There is a thread going on right now on the CMP forum about the low number Springfield receivers if you want to read peoples opinions on them. My sporter has a low serial # it dates to 1905. I shot it a lot before I knew about the supposed danger & I still shoot it. Whether you shoot yours or not is something you have to decide for yourself. You really should read the thread on the CMP forum.sigpic
