Pulled the uh..trigger today

Been looking for a lever action and decided on the Rossi 38/357 for two reasons. 1) cost
2) I have the same caliber wheel gun.

I couldn't find stainless anywhere, so ended up at Buds. I hate spending the 75 more bucks on DROS, but seeing as they are no where to be found, I went with it.

It's been several months since my last purchase. I've been going through withdrawls.

I can't wait to tear into it. Oh and shoot it also.

I think I was delirious.... Bought a Rossi Rio Grande and when I came to my senses the safe was full of leverguns....

Thanks. I've already been there and read a lot of reviews. Seems like mixed reviews, but most things look fixable with some polishing. There's an English guy on you tube that also has good stuff available. I figure to get the DVD and kit from Steve Gunz as well.

My recommendation is to clean the gun well...don't ignore the magazine tube...and then while watching the TV, rack that baby 400 or 500 times.... Flush it out and then shoot it before doing anything else...

Thanks. I'm not doing anything to it except cleaning it, cycling and then shooting when I get it. I'm a little unclear on how far to tear it down on the initial cleaning. Recommendations?

Don't take anything apart...once you open the action there is no turning back!

I would clean the barrel and flush out the action with Breakfree or cleaner/lube of your choice..... I usually blow it out with compressed air...

You can swab the magazine tube, taking it off isn't a big deal but do your research first ... There are a few good YouTube vids that address this.... Personally I haven't found mine to be too bad from the get go but you never know for sure til you pull it off...

I purchased one in December on calguns. It shoots well and cycles what I have loaded it with. I posted a thread on owners preferred ammo for the Rossi 92 and got some good feedback. Like you I have a wheel gun of the same calibers. Good luck..have fun and om any questions, though I am a newbie to this rifle also

In Stevesgunz video he shows cleaning by taking off the buttstock, opening the action and flushing it all out with Gunscrubber. I suppose non-chlorinated brake cleaner is OK too and cheaper. Anyway, Steve says to flush it out until it runs clear. Then aerosol spray in gun oil - CLP, Ballistiol or whatever. Then stand the rifle in a corner over newspaper overnight and let it drip out the excess oil. Then wipe down and reinstall the buttstock.

I fired one at the local Burbank shoot.

Hearing 'Rossi', I automatically prepared for a POS, but was pleasantly surprised. After getting broken it, if I closed my eyes it feels just like my buddy's Winchester.

I still favor Marlin's action for pistol calibers, but I wouldn't turn down a Rossi at a good price
