    Looking for a sling

Does anybody have a suggestion for a quality sling?
Found a site called turner's slings online and they seem to be highly recommended, does anybody have experience with one? Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

I have 6 Turner slings...... Les Tam is another option but I personally don't like how thick his sling is.

Being new to slings, they offer 2 sizes what would I need? The 50/52" or the 54/56"? You owning 6 is a solid endorsement.

You can't get a Les Tam for blood or money these days. Last time I called there was a 2 year wait. Fields makes a good sling too for a bit cheaper. Sling length is based on rifle, long sling for an AR or long arms, short sling for an M1 or M1A. I bought a Fields long sling for the AR, decided I liked the web sling better so I put the leather sling on my M1 Garand but it's awful long, I'll need to trim it down.

Good page for describing the sling and length choices.

Excellent read. Thank you. Since this will share duty on my rifle-length AR with an A2 stock and a savage mkII with the Tacticool stock the 54" should do it. Thanks again.

I have three Turner slings M-1A and two M-1's. High quality and fairly priced.

I have three "Fields" sling used for highpower and small bore, there are lots of option and quality slings, fields, turner, have not seen/used a Tam sling.

Try Champions shooters supply, or Champions choice, Creedmore sports.

The last one I bought was a Ron Brown, I haven't tried it out yet but I like the way its built, plus Creedmore had it on sale plus I got free shipping.

what type of rifle, what application are you looking for.

For highpower matches, turner is a good way to go.

but that is just one type of sling and one type of application.

You didn't say what kind of rifle. There are really 3 classes of slings last time I checked. One for service rifle, American rifle, and Olympic rifle. I use an Anshutz Olympic sling but always have an NRA legal sling on hand in case I get busted (never have).

Not really for any specific match. The intended purpose is use it to have it to practice supporting the rifle during shooting.

There is nothing wrong with a standard 1-1/4 inch leather military sling. It will work just fine. Midwayusa has a good selection of affordable slings. If you are shooting in competition with two sweatshirts and a heavy shooting jacket, then you might want to move up to the top line slings but for anything less than competition, the standard military sling is fine.
