    Spartan Precision FT-R 308win

Once in a while for a lil more trigger time I like to shoot F-Class in FT-R (308win or 223 only), but my Newman 308win with a 24" barrel lobbing 175s wasn't exactly the right tool for the job.

I asked Marc with Spartan Precision to build me a dedicated F-Class barreled action to launch 155gn Scenars @ 3000FPS + and this is what we ended up with.

    Specs:
    Spartan Precision built
    Jim Borden Alpine Action
    30" Bartlein 1:13 5R .299 bore 30" medium palma barrel
Seekins Precision Sling Rail System & 20MOA base
    Jerry Newman Bottom Metal
    Huber Concepts single stage trigger
Joseph E. Ducos aka Stock Doc did the bedding and installed the Terry Cross KMW logger head.
CenterShot carbon fiber bipod. Will be modified by Vinny Da Hook

I'll be getting with Mike Cecil with CS Tactical for a Nightforce NXS of some sort soon.

30" finished length barrel? I'll be watching this one!

    Nice!

We're not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few "crazies".
But the acts of a few American "crazies" is enough to judge all Americans who own guns.

The trend is towards 32". The last three F-TR guns I built had 32's.

Is that measured from the recoil lug?

I was worried about weight to be honest.

          Closed breech face.
To be honest with you, I don't know the rules for weight. I do the metal work per customer request.

Nice rifle, by the way. Marc does top notch work.

I think it is like 18.14lbs or something close to that with bi-pod attached.

Hope that includes glass, the max weight for F/TR is 18.18lbs. That combo looks really nice!

Vu, has the change in the FSC schedule to include more Mid-Range inspired more of your club to come out to the F-Class matches?

My Barnard actioned Eliseo still made weight with its 32" Bartlein, including Sinclair bipod and 5.5-22 NXS, with about 6oz to spare.

sharp looking rig, but I'm back into the coat and sling next Sunday

Honestly I do not think it is the course of fire that keeps the guys away. It is the schedule.

We shoot 1st weekend. HP shoots 2nd, and on odd number months, we shoot steel matches on the 3rd weekend.

That would be about 80 to 100 rounds for our weekend (including practice the Saturday before), another 65 to 80ish rounds for the HP weekend, and another 100 rounds for our steel match.

You can see how that would add up in ammo cost, travel, match fees and barrel life.

You'll notice I rarely bring out my 260 to the HP matches, I typically shoot my 308win to get more trigger time and wind reading time in without sacrificing my competition rig.

Even a guy like me (single and hanging out with a female that likes to shoot) can't pull off 3 weekends in a row. LOL

Very nice. We'll be needing a full range report.

                      Will do Russ.

Got a team event in Oklahoma we need to knock out before I switch gears to this beast. Should be online in Feb some time.

Vu, slap this thing on instead if the CenterShot and blow some minds.
A wide-stance bipod with staked feet and joystick control for elevation and windage! And it's Bling City.

                            Only $399 and 19 ounces.

                              LOL...400.00 for a bi-pod?!

We will see how these F-Class type bi pods work out for me since I have been shooting a Harris for the last 8 to 9 years and use to loading the bi pod when shooting.

From what I understand you don't load these type of bi pods?
