Recommend a lever action rifle

Been wanting the Wild West marlin lever action (co pilot size) but can't find any in the calibers that I want.

Consolidated all my hunt rifles to either .308 and .270.

Do they ever make a lever action in .308win or .270win ?

Get a 30-30
0r better yet, a 44 magnum Marlin lever action.
240 grain bullets at 1500 FPS will take deer sized game, and you hogs, and you can use 44 specials that kick less for practice. Can't usually put 308s and regular rifle round in tubular magazine because they may ignite the primer of the round in front of them. Nice powerful flat head 444. 44 mag., 30-30

You could look for a Savage 99 in 308 or 300 Savage. I see the 300's all the time at the lgs.

There are reproduction Winchester 1895s chambered in 270.

Go for a 307 Winchester. Near 308 power in a lever action. However, ammo availability may be an issue.

The browning rifles will be able to fulfill your ammo wants, but you will pay a pretty penny.

Most lever actions are used in shorter ranges (out to 200 yards) for most game. That being the case, the 30-30 Winchester is a solid choice, with very reasonable ammo cost and availability. Reloading is extremely easy and with cast bullets for practice, very cheap.

A pistol carbine is a solid choice. Chambered in 44 Mag, you have a potent small to medium sized game rifle that will be fun to play with as well as hunt.

What are you planning to use the rifle for will have the biggest effect on what caliber to choose.

or Winchester 88. Nice slick action, light and short. Real handy rifle.

Savage fan here. Find a used mdl-99 in 308.

Or, a mdl-99 in 300 Savage; that is what the 308 is based on.

I'm still surprised how popular the 30-30 still is, given it was outclassed by the 300 Savage Mdl-99 in 1920, and the 250-3000 Savage Mdl-99 a few years before that. The 30-30 is not a bad round, but was never any kind of power-house for sure.

Otherwise, a Browning BLR, which is a really nice rifle too.

Don't forget that Hornady has polymer tipped bullets designed for tube magazines.. This is a game changer for the 357, 44mag, 45/70, 30/30 as far as extending effective range.
