    Remington Steps up.

    Folks,

Remington is fantastic, here is my story. Purchased a Remington 700 from Guns Direct, an SPS tactical. Did my 10 jail term, picked it up.
Screws for the scope mounts would not come out. So like the nimrod I am I tried to drill them out. Did not work out. Sent rifle to J&G Gunsmiths in Glacier Ca, for repairs on my dime. They send it to Remington, they declare the rifle unserviceable and send me a new one!!!!!!!. I was fully willing to pay for a new receiver.....what customer service!!!!!!.
It is on its way to the guys at Guns Direct for its 10 day wait/registration. Way to go Remington!!!!!. I have 5 Remington rifles, and I may go out and get a 6th. A2

I got the same problem on one screw, what did j&g quote you on the costs before they sent it out?

Bruce wished he owned a Droid RAZR.

      J&G Quotes.

      Folks,

J&G did not give a quote, they have to inspect and see what is necessary. A2

Factory rails are usually loctited on, hit it with a blowtorch next time for about 5 seconds and they should slip right out.

Just got a Rem 700. The screws were bonded in and some of the adhesive was running down the side of the receiver. The first screw seemed a little too tight and I could not get it to turn. So I did the normal gunsmith trick. I got the proper fitting screw driver head and I gave it a solid tap before I gave it a turn. All four came out but I can see where the average guy might find them difficult to remove.

I used a high-quality screwdriver, firm downward pressure, patience and carefully metered dose of brute force. All came out without much argument and I could see there was some type of thread locker used.
Using heat gun sounds a hella lot safer than a blowtorch and I own both.

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

A blow torch real quick won't hurt it.
