    Lever fever

Got to shoot my first lever today.

    Its a Marlin 336 in 30-30

How will a .44 mag compare?

    Big 5 has Rossi's for $439.00

    Any good?

I have both..... The 44 has much less recoil...hits hard...and the pistol caliber is an easy reload.... Trust me....you will shoot a lot.... I have a few of each but for pure, affordable fun... I go to my .44 or .357.... My Rossi guns are a joy.... Just picked up a Henry in 44 but haven't shot it yet..... I can tell you it is much heavier.

Look up .457 Alaskan. Nice lever gun. Costs more but has a much higher cool factor.

30-30 more recoil than 44 mag?

Why are you wasting your time with those pretenders to the throne when you could be shooting one of these ;-)

J/K, I know the Rossis are nice but a 1951 Winchester 1894 in .30-30 is cheaper and more fun plus it's C&R!!! Although .30-30 ammo is going to kill your bank account if you don't reload.

Now I have to figure out what to sell or trade.

Since lever guns are being discussed I thought I'd post an item I just stumbled across - a drop in saddle ring that replaces the Marlin cross bolt safety on 336, 1894 & 1895 rifles.
