Recommend me an optic for Remy 700

I have a bone stock varmit Remy 700 w/ 26" bull barrel in .308. I currently have a crappy Leapers sight on it but will about $500 to spend for glass. What is good for that price? Its a bench gun for now but will eventually be used for zombies in the future.

This is about a year old but he goes through different price points. I haven't used it yet but I just picked up a SWFA 6.5x20x44 at opticsplanet with their 15% off code for $360. The SWFA warranty from wha I hear is a great benefit with their scopes.

Used Vortex HS 5-15x
Used Vortex anything that is mil/mil really.

Maybe a 3-15x SWFA SS if you can spend a bit more.

I really like the Vortex HS-T that I put on my .308 WIN SPS Tactical. They are $550 new.

This is pretty much going to be the best thing you can get for the money. It's a Weaver Tactical relabeled as a Blackhawk. FFP Mil/Mil. Ask anyone who owns a Weaver Tactical and they will tell you It is about the best thing you can buy(new) under $1k or so. The glass is clearer than a Vortex PST. I have both the Weaver and the Vortex, and I will tell you there is no comparison in clarity.

The only place Vortex has Weaver(or anyone else) beat is in the warranty dept. Their warranty is amazing. I don't know what the Blackhawk warranty is like.

I would recommend researching Sightron.

Anything in the Sightron Big Sky line would likely fall into your price range. These are very highly reviewed scopes with excellent glass.

If you end up being able to spend a bit more, look at the Sightron SIII series.

I am partial to the SWFA fixed power scopes when on a budget. I have the 12x for two different guns and love it.

For the budget, I'd go the SWFA route.

You'll have extra for the mount and rings.

$500 is sorta no mans land in scopes, tgeres a lot of great $350-425 scopes then a few better ones $650-850. Buy one of the ones mentioned here and spend the rest on a quality base and rings.
