    Q's regarding Marlin 336cs

    Hello Everyone:

Can you one tell me at the least the approximate value of a 1988 Marlin 336cs lever action chambered in 30-30 that is unfired w/original box & manuals mint condition?

    The rifle has no blemishes.

    Thank you for your time...

According to the Gun Traders Guide (2012) a model 336cs with scope ranges from NIB at $435.00, Ex cond at $282.00, and good cond at $184.00. However, the price is also contingent on what the market will carry so it could be higher depending upon how badly someone wants it. I recently purchased a 30-30 that was made in 1966 that had not been fire with no box or paperwork for 400.00 dollars. Are you buying or selling? As Marlin quality has taken some hits over the past few years, many are looking for 2008 or earlier models so you may get more.

Seems like they come up for sale in the calguns marketplace often in the $350 to $450 range. I've only glanced at them so don't remember their condition. No idea what they sold for. I would think $400 to $500 for one like you described. I'm no expert, just offering my opinion.

As with others my wife and I look at our firearms as "investments." My wife and I decided to sell our Glock 19 to purchase the rifle at state; Our basis is that we perceive Glock 19's to be more common.

This was my wife's favorite handgun so I will be looking for another Glock 19 after the Holiday season.

It is prudent for one to research any investment vehicle before laying out cash. Unfortunately I don't think you did this.

The 336 (in any model, other than those "collector" series) chambers in 30-30 is about the most common lever action rifle around. Their values have not increased over time in the same way that the CB's or CB LTD's have.
