You will like the 94. I have a Rossi repro of the 1892 in 45Colt that I use for Cowboy Action shooting and it is a lot of fun to shoot.

Yes, both the lgs, Retting, and Big5 were sold out of 30-30, but my "go to" retailer/reloader has plenty of new Win SuperX. DVSmith, if you're willing to drive the hour north... they have plenty and for well under a buck a round.

You need to start reloading. You can do .30-30 for a lot less than a buck a round.

Nice carbine! I've owned several 94s, they are very handy and have the right 'look' to them.

The finish wears so quickly on the pre 64 carbines because of the nickel steel receivers which is difficult to blue and difficult to get the finish to stay.

Made about Nov of 1922, with 15,722 made that year.

That is very neat to know! Using the "old" dating system, the seller put the date as "1924".

Your welcome! That thread has been fun, some of the dates have been way off. A few rare gems have shown up there too.
Bert Hartman has been doing a survey on the Model 94,55, & 64 compiling a vast amount of new info on them.

Savage model 99 featherweight in .308, Winchester model 88 (black chrome) in .243. Love them both and have shot a fair number of deer and pigs with them. Can't find any info on the black chrome finish on the Winchester. My dad picked it up used and gave it to me for a Christmas present. Don't know if the black chrome finish is aftermarket or factory, but it looks good and wears like iron.

I picked up my "94" in 30-30 a few years back. They are great guns, fun to shoot. The wife loves it and considers it hers.

Yea what is it with that? Every woman I have dated or married has taken an attchment to my 30-30...

BTW I saw one like that at a pawn shop last weekend. I'm still thinking about going back for it. I love the look of a Winchester whith the blue worn off
