    Watch out for this seller

Caution! Beware of seller He is no longer affiliated with Folsom Sacramento Valley Shooting Center or has ever been a member of NorCal Practical Precision Rifle Club.

This exact rifle has been sold weeks ago to a friend of mine that owns a gun shop in Elk Grove, CA.

The winner of the auction (last Friday) happened to be a buddy of mine on Sniper's Hide. Luckily he wanted to do a FTF for the rifle and did not send any funds. The seller has turned off his cell, email, and is not returning calls at his business number as well.

I would be very leery of sending that much money to a stranger with no feedback at all. Glad your friend didn't get burned!

The seller is probably also upset because it sold for $2k less than his buy it now price.

probably just another Nigerian Scam, I guess its hard for them to accumulate positive feedback without ever having actual goods to deliver.

Why anyone even deals with GunBroker is still beyond me. It's the Craigslist of firearms.

I've had good luck on gunbroker. If you like firearms made from wood or steel, that have revolving cylinders, or rimfire besides a 10-22, you are a dying breed in CA, based on selection in local gunshops. That leaves the internet. You got buds, gunbroker, and armslist. Armslist makes me nervous. But I bought my CZ550 from SWFA. Through Gunbroker. After calling every gun shop in the south bay and peninsula, and also a shop in Boise.

I've had three excellent connections made via GB. In my case, I looked for sellers who were located in California and were close enough for me to visit myself. The only out of state purchase made via GB was for an off roster pistol which I got for a ridiculously low price. Even with shipping and SSE transfer I saved about $700 on the firearm.

I did the transfer at a rad shop in Solana Beach if I remember correctly. Not too many were doing SSE (Single Shot Exemptions) at the time. They were super helpful and very knowledgeable.

Edit: It was Direct Action Solutions! Great place.

I've had good luck on both gunbroker and armslist.

I handle transactions on GB the same way that I would on eBay or even here...

                  Research, price, reviews, contact.

I've purchased half a dozen receivers off of GB and still no issues.
Firearms... I'd be a lot more careful. Plus I've never seen a big enough deal on a rifle or handgun to render the tax and transfer fees necessary. There can still be better deals found in stores and in the marketplace here.

Because my local shops cater to what actually sells. Full stock on evil black rifles, mossberg500's, and plastic semi-auto pistols. 30 pound bipodded bolt action rifles with plastic stocks. To do otherwise risks having no sales.

But some of us like other kinds of guns. Like those with wood, steel, or pedigree. Hard to find local. And when they trickle in in onsey-twoseys, the caliber is wrong, the cartridge is wrong, the wood sucks, or the price is twice what a guy in TN would pay.

Same here, I use gun broker looking for old lever actions I can't find local.
Research the sellers, I have had 0 issues buying online, out of state. It helps having a good working FFL dealer local also.

GB and Armslist make me leery too but I've had good luck so far on both.

Most shops around here cater to the tacticool market and I don't blame them; it's what sells. But for a guy that likes revolvers and sporting shotguns, there isn't much around.

However the best place I've found is this forum.

I have never had a problem buying or selling on GunBroker. I have even bought a couple of things from sellers that had "No CA sales". If you call them and just talk to them, also have a good rating helps, they understand that we are behind enemy lines and are willing to help.

Looks like someone bought the thing for $4K, and he's got a few buys under his belt. Would it be wrong to send the guy a link to here?

I have great luck on gunbroker. Seems like all the really good deals com from New York, or New Jersey... But Texas is a close third.

You just have to put faith in the honesty of strangers
