My last rifle purchase for a while

Went to my lgs and purchased a Remington Model 700 SS 5-R Mil-Spec 308 Win 24" Anyone got one? Can't wait to get it out and shoot it. Now got to start thinking on glass.

Very popular model, and for good reason. The one I shoot likes 175 sierra hpbt with 1gr less varget than book max seated to the lands.

Works up to and including 1k yards with decent results

Great rifle. Varget and 175gn SMKs. Work your way up to 45gns. Hot load, but safe in all the 5Rs we have seen on the line.

Start low as always.

Thanks guy's! Planning on taking it to the CaPRC classes starting in march if I can get in this year. Did not want to upset Randell and show up with a Savage lol. Just got to get some money together for good glass and start trying out loads on it.

Start at 43.5gr of Varget under a 175 Sierra Matchking.
If that load won't shoot bugholes, something is wrong with the shooter/gun.

I just picked up my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 that I purchased on Black Friday. It is my first bolt action gun and it'll be a while before I shoot since I need to buy a base, rings, a scope and probably a new stock but I'll get there eventually haha. Congrats on the new rifle!

Gunsmiths dont make as much money off of Savages, so you have to buy a Remington 700 cuz they are the best.

The summary though is poor bolt lift and unreliable extraction/ejection.

Wow, that was bad. Own a couple savages and not had any issues. But have not shot them in a match setting, only hunting.
