Ranging targets

My Simmons states out 2 600 also but has a hard time at any thing past 300 yrds .

It depends on the target and the light. Mine ranges out to 575 on bright flat (reflective) targets in daylight, more typically would be 300-400.

It seems to hold its own just fine compared to anything else $200-$300 and it cost $80.

Just based on specs, I'd try one since it is 6x rather than 4x

guess then add at least 100 yards for internet stories

or just ask the other people that I am with, who have a LRF.... the add 100 for the stories

Stories are way better without a LRF. Then it is +300 yards to your estimate and you actually believe it yourself.

Honestly learn how to use Mildots and range that way.


I can mil out my targets and get a range for the same or sometimes just before my buddy pulls tags and reads his range finder he has.

It gets simple and like math you learn quick ways to mil stuff kinda like multiplying 9's or 5's some ranges and sized targets you get mil in seconds.

What I have been doing as we'll is it downloaded and measure via google earth the day or week before the shoot and have an idea then quick mil it and usually end up a click or 2 off or spot on.

I use both, but just picked up a Zeiss PRF 8x26 rangefinder. I have been using it out in the desert in AZ, and so far it's working really well for me.

Seriously, I shot an antelope that measured 3.1 mils (as best as I could measure), obviously right around 330 yards or so. My buddy (who saw it) doesn't believe it, but I'm definitely right
