    Mossberg MVP varmint

Went shooting with some friends at Laguna seca the other day and saw a guy shooting the MVP varmint in 223/556. Talked with him about it for a while and he let me take a few shots with it. So long story short now I'm interested in one anyone have any experience with it or the stock optics it comes with

I bought an MVP Predator and a Savage TH XP package on the same day recently. I'm more excited about the Mossberg. Mine did not come with a scope. I am putting a Nikon P-233 3x9x40 on it this week. I hope to find rings locally tomorrow. I plan to sight in the scope on Friday and keep an eye out for coyotes while bird hunting for another month, then try my hand at coyote hunting with it.

I did shoot the Savage and it was on paper when I bought it. I have it pretty close at 100 yards, but it just seems boring all of a sudden compared to the MVP.

My Varmint did not come with a scope. With an inexpensive Simmons 3X9 scope installed, it shoots an honest 1MOA with Federal bulk 55 gr. hardball when I do my part.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I have one up for sale/trade. Great rifle and can be very accurate. I went with the primary arms 4-14 FFP scope. Little overkill but great glass and affordable.

The MVP is MOA capable and the adjustable trigger is an added plus.. Lately, I've been seeing people posting that they'd rather have the Patrol instead of the Varmit. Mostly due to the shorter barrel and muzzle device, I suppose.

Probaly not a good long gun for dedicated precision shooters but good enough for us mortals. Especially, those with AR mags..

tough call... I can shoot accurately all the way to 600 (at Angeles) with no problems... question is do I need to and what role do you want the rifle to serve? If you wanted to shoot squirrels or rabbits 300 to 400 I would use the varmint... inside of that, I would use my patrol.
