my rem700 woes

The filler screw wont come out for the scope mount. Tried oil, heat and oil and heat. Remington sucks.

they suck for using soft screws.

Put it in a padded drill press vise, put the correct bit in the chuck, then while pressing down, try turning in slightly, then out. Or, take it to a smith before you screw it up more. Stuff like this is very discouraging right when you are just getting into doing something, been there done that. Good luck.

I had a brand new Aimpoint PRO where the mount spacer would not come unstuck from the base... I guess Aimpoints suck too. Stuff happens.

My 700P does not suck.

Try using an impact screwdriver.

Get the right bit and give it a smack. You can break off the slot and they usually can be just unscrewed anyway. There is nothing holding it in.

One screw free!!!! Used a vise grips on the rear screw. One to go!

You should try a properly fitted screwdriver.

Kroil oil let it soak overnight and the proper hollowground screwdriver. Also place a driver on top of slot and smack the driver with a hammer, that could free the hold.
