i ran into the same problem when looking for a base and rings for my .270. could find jack regarding ring height and base height so i ended up getting too high of a ring for my particular base. it would be nice if companies listed that info on the product details.

I had a 700 with TPS 20MOA base and extra low TPS rings with Leopold 50mm obj.

Your first pictures, measuring .330 and .215 on the base in different places are incorrect measurement locations. You need to measure from the upper surface of the scope base to mounting surface of the scope base that touches the round part of the 700 action (near the recoil lug). Add 1/2 diameter of the action to that measurement to get from the top surface of the scope base to the bore centerline.

Then, work upward from the scope base top surface to scope centerline. Go back down from the objective and any lens cover radius, and the barrel radius and find the clearance. If a negative number, then you have interference.

Of course, saying all this, I cheat. I draw everything in solidworks and even include the 20moa cant on the scope base.

Both methods will give the same answer, but if you are really close, the 20moa taper will cause an interference.

I hear you on not having a spec for the base, I had a Ken Farrel base, and found that it was extra high by itself. Even with low rings, the scope was about 1/2" away from the barrel. When it is not given, the safest way to purchase is to get the base, measure it, then buy the rings. But of course this takes longer.

The 0 moa scope base puts the front of the scope about 1/8"-3/16" higher above the barrel than a 20moa scope base would.
If you had gone with a 20moa base, you would not see so much room.
Next thing to consider, are you going to run any caps on the scope?
Those add between 1/16" and 1/8" thickness on the bottom of the scope.

THEN, look at the clearance of your scope to the rail behind the rear ring.
Is the magnification ring of the scope sitting over the scope rail or behind it.
If it is behind it, go as low as you want.
If the magnification ring is over the rail, you can only lower the scope as much as will still allow the magnification ring to be turned.

I have a 20 moa base on my 5R same scope as you I run Burris Low XTR rings with plenty of room, hope this helps

Customer Service hates it, but just order all three sizes,return two and keep the one with the best fit.

You can always take it into bass pro have them mount it and make sure you get the right height, did that with my rem 700. Was going to get low but the bolt was too close so ended up using medium. Just a thought or do like killshot said.

TPS 20 moa base, TPS low rings, and swfa 5-20x50 ss. All sitting on top of a Remmy 700 SPS Varmint.

I could go with the super lowes but at the time the super lowes were not in stock. So I got that was available. I got plenty of room for scope covers like BC covers. Heck even with the super low TPS rings I would still have room.

I've always ran: tps 20 Moa base, low rings with my 50mm obj scopes.
