    Question...AR

So, I'm listening to a podcast. Guns are being discussed. I started thinking about the AR, and I realized something. What is the term for preparing an AR for firing after it is loaded?

You can pull back/rack the slide on a semi auto pistol
You can cock a single action
    You can rack a shotgun
You pull out the charging handle on an AR....

Is there a simple verb that is used?

More of a point of curiosity than anything else.

I refer to it as "Charging" the gun.

Maybe you didnt understand the question. I hope you didnt understand the question.

              I use "Charge".

What I was told these where the command from English cannon crews.
"Charge" as the command prior to "load". "Rack" I was told, is the term used to re-position a cannon after it's fired. "chamber" was the command used to clear the bore after the cannon had fired and before repositioning.

              Chamber
              Rack
              Charge
              Load
              Fire

Wikipedia will probably find me wrong. LOL

It's called a "charging handle" for a reason; "charge" is what I call it.
