Savage 12 long range precision or 11 long range hunter

just shopping around, stumbled on these two that both offer the 6.5 creedmoor caliber

Can't make up my mind either... anyone have personal experiences with these?

oh and in before Randall says Savage sucks and then convinces me to get a R700 because I should know better

                Pretty much a toss up.

The M-12 Long Range Precision is based on the Precision Target Action, has the more rigid action, but that comes at the expense of weight, it runs 11 pounds, without scope.

M-11/111 Long Range Hunter has open top sporter type action, weighs 8.4 pounds.

Both have 4 round detachable magazines, 1:8" twist carbon steel barrels, with the M-12 LRP having a fluted barrel, while the M-11/111 Long Range Hunter is equipped with Savage's adjustable muzzle brake.

The M-12 LR Precision comes equipped with the Target AccuTrigger and HS Precision stock. The M-11 has the AccuStock and an adjustable comb. In my book the Target AccuTrigger trumps the adjustable comb - but that's opinion. Take your choice, remembering that the Savage may look like it was created by an explosion in a hardware store, but they shoot up with the best, and only require a folding allen wrench set (doubles as pin punches), and a screwdriver to disassemble in the field should something break, although I have had no breakdowns in years of varmint hunting. Savage parts are cheap and ubiquitous, and anyone can quickly learn how to gunsmith one should they desire.

I recently picked up a 11/111 long ranger hunter in 7mm Reg Mag. I Haven't set it up yet, no time, but will soon. Ill make a range report when I get a chance.
The reason, I picked this rifle is because of the reviews i read online. Plus it came with a muzzle brake, and a decent trigger, and accustock, right out of the box. I paid 850 shipped for the rifle, which left me with more funds to spend on optics.

In my opinion, since your looking at the 6.5 Creedmoor. I would go with the 12 because of the target action and trigger, and HS stock. Plus I like the extra weight of it for target shooting.

Get the 11 if you want a muzzle brake and a lighter rifle. It also comes in more calibers too if you decide to choose something different from the 6.5creedmoor.

But happy choosing. can't good wrong with either.
