Chinese Type 53

been wanting to pick up a Mosin, but thought barrel was way too long for me. LGS has Chinese Type 53's for an ok price. don't know much about mosins overall, and tried to search. I was wondering if all Chinese type 53's were carbine length, or did they also have a long version too?

The Type 53 is by definition a carbine length weapon with folding bayonet.

Try to find one with a shiny bore and matching serial numbers.

They have a batch of these at the gun store in Lancaster on Sierra highway. They also have some Chinese SKS'

Get some surplus Bulgarian silver tip ammo and your t53 will double as a flame thrower

This^ they are M44 pattern carbines built on old soviet tooling.

Finding an all matching shiny bore might be kind of hard to do though.
Most will have a mismatching bolt at least.
Older imports had good looking exteriors but crappy bores.
Newer imports have rough stocks but excellent bores.


OP what's an "ok price"?

Calguner berserks9 has some nice 53s also has some very nice 91/30s round and hex. Good prices for the quality and ships.

T53s are great guns. They typically have very beat up stocks, but the metal is often in pretty good shape, sometimes better than Russian refurbs.

Like others said, try to get one with a decent bore if you can (the closer to a polished mirror the better), and matching serials (particularly the barrel and the bolt) are nice too. Though it seems matching serials on Type 53s aren't all that common.
