So I have been looking at adding my first bolt rifle ( 30-06 or .308) to my collection. Planning on an Elk Hunt, Pig and maybe deer someday. I am the guy to research the subject to death.
I know I want:
30.06 or .308
Hinged floor plate for internal magazine - not external
3 position safety
Prefer Walnut, but not positive
I like Stainless barrels, but that is 100% aesthetic for me.
Rem 700 - IMO Maybe someday - just not today (Seems WAY over hyped for my liking...)
Win 70 - See above...
I do like the Ruger Hawkeye 30.06 -
Tikka T3 is also a contender.
CZ 550 or 557 are strong possibilities also
No Mossberg or Savage sub $500 have the features I want
Here is my biggest quandry!
I am liking the Smith & Wesson I-Bolt -
While the bolt had a recall, easily fixed by the MFG., other than that there is not allot of info on it.
Here is what I like:
Timeny trigger ( adjustable 3-6lbs EXTERNALLY)
3 position safety
Thompson Centerfire Match Grade Barrel
Oversized triger guard
Internal Magazine - Hinged Floor Plate
60 degree bolt pull back vs. 90 degree
S & W wouldn't put there name on garbage!
Oh... BTW - I can get one NEW for under $350, which means more $$ for optics.
Looking for honest feedback:Thanks!
